Wrinkles and Anti-Aging Treatments in Ontario, CA

Aging is a gift; we gain wisdom and wrinkles. While we want to hold on to what we’ve learned in life, the wrinkles many can do without.

Around age 20, collagen and elastin production begins to slow, resulting in skin that doesn’t bounce back quite like it used to. If your fine lines and wrinkles are getting you down because you don’t believe they reflect your vitality and zest for life, don’t worry–at Enhance Aesthetics, we have a wide range of anti-aging treatments to get you back to smooth, glowing skin.

What Causes Wrinkles?

As people age, the body begins to slow down the production of collagen and elastin, the primary proteins that make up the skin’s structure. These proteins give the skin its healthy bounce, strength, and glow. But as these structures decline, the skin begins to sag, causing it to fold and wrinkle.

In addition, other factors contribute to wrinkled skin. While deep creases in the face, sometimes called static wrinkles, are caused by a loss of elasticity, dynamic wrinkles are due to excessive facial movement or expressions. Other internal factors, such as genetics, can cause a person to be more susceptible to wrinkles, as well as external factors, such as sun exposure, tobacco use, and pollutants.

Am I a Candidate for Anti-Aging Treatments?

If you are experiencing fine lines, wrinkles, or deep facial creases, you are likely a candidate for anti-aging treatments. Even younger patients may be interested in anti-aging treatments as preventative measures to retain their youthful skin as long as possible, sometimes called “prejuvenation” treatments. Candidates for anti-aging treatments:

  • Have mild to moderate fine lines and wrinkles
  • Have deeper facial creases around the mouth, nose, or chin
  • Want to have a treatment plan in place to prevent future wrinkles
  • Want to improve their overall skin health and minimize the appearance of wrinkles
  • Have reasonable expectations for results
  • Are generally healthy

How Do You Treat Wrinkles?

As with most skincare treatments, the first step is determining what kind of wrinkles you have. For instance, do you mostly see fine lines and creases around your forehead, between the eyebrows, or around your eyes? Those are dynamic wrinkles and are caused by muscle contractions and facial expressions.

Conversely, you may see deeper creases around your mouth and nose, sometimes called marionette lines. These are static wrinkles, which usually appear due to a loss of volume and elasticity in the skin. Each type of wrinkle requires a different approach to treatment, and each patient will have different needs, such as how deep their wrinkles are and how intensive they would like their treatment to be.

Most non-surgical wrinkle treatment plans incorporate various options customized to the patient’s needs to achieve the best possible results.

What Are My Anti-Aging Treatment Options?

Your specific anti-aging treatment plan will be tailored exactly to your needs and can be a combination of different procedures that will give you the best possible results. Some possible treatments include:

Neuromodulator Injections

This is a tried-and-true non-surgical method for reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and fine lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic, DAXXIFY®, XEOMIN®, and other neuromodulators work by limiting muscle contractions that occur beneath the skin’s surface.

Neuromodulators, sometimes called wrinkle relaxers, are effective for areas that exhibit a lot of movement, such as around the eyes, the brows, and the forehead. This minimally invasive treatment is ideal for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and, when used consistently, may also be useful in preventing the creation of new wrinkles, making it useful for prejuvenation treatments as well.

Dermal Fillers

For deep facial creases or other indented imperfections, dermal facial fillers are a great alternative to more invasive procedures. Typically a gel-like substance with hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers restore lost volume and can “fill in” indentations and creases for a plumped and youthful appearance.

We can also use dermal fillers to create more definition in the face, contouring the cheeks, chin, and jawline for a more sculpted look.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser treatments are ideal for providing skin resurfacing results and inducing collagen production. By removing the top layer of skin, fine lines and wrinkles are less prominent as new, healthy skin is revealed. Additionally, by promoting more collagen and elastin, the skin is more supple and hydrated, further reducing the visibility of wrinkles.

RF Microneedling and Morpheus8™

The heat produced by radiofrequency (RF) reaches deep into the skin, inducing collagen and elastin production to heal the skin from the inside out. Microneedling also induces collagen as it creates microchannels on the skin’s surface, which trigger the skin’s healing response. Additionally, hydrating skincare products are more effective after microneedling, which can greatly improve the skin barrier and smooth the skin.

Morpheus8™ is a popular RF microneedling treatment, as this device reaches even deeper into the facial tissues for tissue remodeling, resulting in more dramatic skin tightening and contouring results. This device is still gentle enough to be used as a treatment for under the eyes, reducing the appearance of under-eye bags for a refreshed and alert appearance.
