Pigmentation Treatments in Ontario, CA

Most of us want to put our best face forward, but we could do without some of the marks on it. Dark spots, sun spots, age spots–all of these skin concerns stem from abnormal pigmentation in the skin, and they’re all very common, as they can appear due to so many different factors. If you’re experiencing hyperpigmentation, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or melasma, we can help.

We have many treatment options at Enhance Aesthetics, including laser and light therapy, topical treatments, and hormone regulation therapy, to get you even, glowing skin.

What Causes Pigmentation Issues?

Pigmentation changes in the skin occur when the body begins to produce an abnormal amount of melanin, which is the substance that provides color to the skin, hair, and eyes. Hyperpigmentation is a very common skin concern, and it causes patches of the skin to become darker than normal. Some common causes of hyperpigmentation include:

  • Environmental factors, such as excess sun exposure
  • Hormonal changes, including pregnancy and menopause
  • Injury to the skin
  • Certain medications

Another common pigmentation issue that causes hyperpigmentation is melasma, which can cause light or dark brown patches on the skin, commonly around the cheeks, mouth, and forehead. Melasma is common in pregnant and/or hormonal imbalanced women and can fade afterward or become more prominent with time.

Am I a Candidate for Pigmentation Treatments?

If you have discoloration on your face, neck, chest, or hands that you want to reduce, you may be a candidate for pigmentation treatments. Candidates for hyperpigmentation treatment should:

  • Have sun spots, dark spots, or patches of dark skin that they want to lessen
  • Are healthy and are not taking any medication that can interfere with treatment
  • Have realistic expectations for results

How Do You Treat Pigmentation Issues?

Treatment will vary depending on the type of pigmentation issue and the specific causes of your pigmentation. For example, if you have sun spots along your cheeks, part of your treatment will include a good daily SPF and avoid further sun exposure. If your dark spots are caused by hormonal changes, assessing the causation of these changes will be relevant, and you may benefit from exploring hormone replacement therapy to help your skin.

Your Pigmentation Consultation

During your consultation with one of our experienced skincare specialists, we will discuss your goals and concerns for your pigmentation treatment. We will also examine your skin and listen to your experiences with pigmentation changes to determine your kind of pigmentation issue. Most patients have some form of hyperpigmentation, but we always spend time in the consultation to determine what is unique about your skin.

Are dark spots and uneven skin tone getting you down? We’ve got you covered. We’re proud to offer multiple pigmentation treatment options, including hormone therapy, laser therapy, and more. Call Enhance Aesthetics today at (909) 581-7777 to schedule your anti-aging consultation.

What Are My Pigmentation Treatment Options?

Laser Therapy

If you’ve got a pigmentation concern, we most likely have a laser that can help. Each laser therapy system has benefits for resurfacing the skin, creating a more even skin tone, or inducing collagen to rejuvenate the skin. The Candela laser treatment can reduce the appearance of broken capillaries and other pigmented lesions. In contrast, Erbium laser resurfacing can improve the appearance of acne scars, dark spots, and other deeper pigmentation concerns.

IPL Therapy

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, or photofacials, uses light energy to target surface-level pigmentation issues in the skin. A more gentle approach to treatment, IPL therapy can improve a variety of concerns, including age spots, broken blood vessels, spider veins, hormonal discoloration, and more, with less downtime and recovery than other methods.

Hormone Regulation Therapy

Depending on your age and circumstances, you may be experiencing hyperpigmentation due to hormone fluctuations or an imbalance. A consultation with one of our RNs can help determine some of the underlying causes of your pigmentation issues, which may be hormone-related. Many of our patients benefit greatly from hormone regulation therapy, which can improve your overall health, including skin health, sleep, energy, and libido.
